Tennis West's Gascoyne zone has been served up a financial ace.

Sport and Recreation Minister Norman Moore announced the $5,000 grant from the Sport Lottery Fund today.

"Coaching development and zone tournaments are just two of the areas where the money will help," Mr Moore said.

"Under the funding, a system to qualify Level 1 coaches will be developed and zone tournaments arranged."

Mr Moore said that other areas where the money would be spent included training committee members, preparing a constitution for Shark Bay and a review of zone and club outcomes.

A zone newsletter would be started and quarterly zone meetings introduced.

There would also be strategies to introduce new players to local clubs to strengthen memberships.

"Top quality facilities and a professional delivery of services through well-managed organisations by skilled people is the aim of the Ministry of Sport and Recreation," Mr Moore said.

"These projects are part of that aim."
