Funding for vacation care program in Victoria Park area
12/11/96
Families in the Victoria Park area will benefit from funding of a vacation care program announced today by Family and Children's Services Minister Cheryl Edwardes.
Mrs Edwardes said she had approved funding of $8,691 for the Victoria Park Community Recreation Association to provide vacation care for 40 children during the school holidays.
She said the centre had responded to the growing need for vacation care in the area, operating a program during all school holiday periods available to children in the district.
"Access to quality vacation care is an important part of helping to strengthen families," the Minister said.
"This service will offer primary school-aged children the opportunity to play and develop in a safe and stimulating environment.
"Parents can be sure their children are learning skills as well as enjoying themselves."
Mrs Edwardes said that the supporting vacation care program was part of Family and Children's Services' commitment to providing children's services which are both affordable and high quality to Western Australian families.
