Family and Children's Services has funded the Roberta Jull Family Day Care Association's Youth and Community Program in Armadale, enabling the centre to make valuable long-term plans that will benefit young people and the community.

Family and Children's Services Minister Cheryl Edwardes announced today that the department had signed an agreement with the service which guaranteed it $15,609 a year until June 30, 1998.

Mrs Edwardes said the service offered socially isolated families with dependent children and children with special needs support in a variety of ways.

"The centre will help individuals and families to manage their lives more positively," she said.

"They will be offered skills to deal with crises in their lives and to stop crises developing.

"Families can also be put in touch with local services which will help them cope with the challenges of daily life."

Mrs Edwardes said she believed the agreement marked the start of a good relationship which would benefit the local community.

Secure funding would enable the agency to plan for the future with programs and courses to meet the needs of local residents she said.
