A Geraldton-based oil company has been contracted alongside major suppliers like BP, Caltex and Mobil to provide fuel to the Western Australian Government, under a new whole-of-Government contract.

Works and Services Minister Mike Board announced today that the Department of Contract and Management Services (CAMS) had awarded the contract earlier this month to several petroleum companies, including Burrows Petroleum Pty Ltd.

"Burrows Petroleum is a regional-based company, and I am pleased that it has been included in the whole-of-Government contract," Mr Board said.

"CAMS encourages the use of local suppliers in its contracts through the application of the State Government's regional buying compact."

Burrows Petroleum will deliver fuel to a limited, non-metropolitan area from depots at Geraldton, Carnamah, Morawa, Mount Magnet and Meekatharra.

The overall contract, which covers bulk, bowser, and drum fuel across the State, was awarded to six suppliers.

These are BP Australia, Caltex Oil, Shell Australia, Mobil Oil, Fleet Systems and Burrows Petroleum.

The overall contract is estimated to be worth $32 million per annum.
