Lands Minister Doug Shave has appointed Gerry Gauntlett as principal consultant to the Review of the Western Australian Land Authority (LandCorp).

The review is a legislative requirement of the Western Australian Land Authority Act.

Mr Shave said Gerry Gauntlett, who recently retired as Managing Director of Knight Frank Real Estate, had nearly 40 years experience in the property sector, both public and private and was well qualified to head the review process.

"The review is intended to provide an independent assessment of LandCorp's operations and a basis for Government consideration of the future role of the agency," the Minister said.

"It will also have reference to the National Competition Policy requirements to ensure the Government trading enterprises operate on an equal competitive footing with their private sector counterparts."

Mr Shave said submissions would be sought from key parliamentary, government agency and private sector stakeholders.

As the State Government's land development arm, LandCorp was responsible for ensuring an adequate supply of industrial, residential and commercial land was available to meet the current and future needs of the Western Australian community.

Mr Shave said the review would commence this month and was expected to take about two months to complete.
