Glendalough election to be held Saturday, March 19

Premier Richard Court announced today that the election for the Legislative Assembly electoral district of Glendalough would be held on Saturday, March 19, 1994.
The vacancy was caused by Hon Dr Carmen Lawrence giving her resignation to the Speaker of the Legislative Assembly, Hon Jim Clarko MLA, on Monday, February 14.
The Speaker gave his warrant late yesterday afternoon to the Clerk of the Writs (the Electoral Commissioner) directing him to issue a writ to supply the vacancy. The writ was issued to the Returning Officer later in the day. Nominations of candidates will close at 6 pm on Friday, February 25, 1994 and the electoral roll for enrolments will close at the same time.
It was also announced by the Premier that a code relating to government advertising would apply during the election period.
