Grant for Pannawonica Occasional Child Care Service

The Pannawonica Occasional Child Care Service has been given an annual grant of $13,199 to provide care for 14 children for 12 hours a week.

Announcing the grant today, Community Development Minister Roger Nicholls said that the grant would be made each year until June 30, 1996.

Mr Nicholls said occasional child care services were designed primarily for children up to the age of six where one or both parents was at home.

They gave children access to developmental and social activities and gave parents a break during which they could pursue other activities.

Special efforts were made to provide such services in smaller towns where other services were less likely to be available.
