Guide to Gov't concessions now available on Internet
21/12/96
A guide to State Government concessions offered to Western Australians is available on the Internet, Family and Children's Services Minister Cheryl Edwardes announced today.
Mrs Edwardes said the guide, produced by Family and Children's Services, detailed a wide range of concessions and rebates in areas such as health, education, housing, water, travel and energy.
"I am delighted that access to the information in the reference guide is now quicker and easier via cyberspace," she said.
"Single people, families and senior citizens can log on to the Internet at any time of the day or night and find out about the discounts and concessions to which they are entitled."
The comprehensive information also covers savings on council rates, camping fees, fishing licences, dental treatment, rent and much more.
It clearly sets out eligibility requirements for concessions to the value of more than $400 million on services and activities.
The Family and Children's Services Internet address is: www.wa.gov.au/fcs/
Mrs Edwardes said Australians were keen to embrace the latest technology and there would be an estimated eight million Australian users within three years.
"Family and Children's Services' innovative parenting home page, which has tips for bringing up children, has proven that popularity," she said.
"There were more than 1,000 contacts to the Internet site in its first month of operation."
