Howard Croxton appointed Taxi Industry Board chairman
22/8/96
Transport Minister Eric Charlton today announced that Howard Croxon had been appointed as chairman of the Taxi Industry Board.
Mr Charlton said a vacancy had arisen as the inaugural TIB chairman Len Hitchen had resigned to take up consultancy work. Mr Charlton said today that Mr Hitchen had been chairman of the board during its most difficult phase. "When change takes place and a new organisation is set up, the position requires good administration skills in bringing the organisation together," the Minister said.
"Len Hitchen has delivered a sound organisation from which to build a highly representative industry body. "Obviously the taxi industry is well on the way to being a highly professional tourist-oriented industry, as the major changes have now been made. Consolidation and enhancement of the industry will continue with increased industry involvement in future initiatives. "Howard Croxon and the current board membership have a wealth of experience in administration and transport affairs."
