IR Commission's order that teachers not strike welcomed

Education Minister Norman Moore has welcomed an order by Industrial Relation Commission that teachers not go on strike next Wednesday and that bans on out-of-class activities be lifted immediately.

"This is the breakthrough we have been seeking and I sincerely hope that the union will comply with the order for the benefit of the students in our schools," Mr Moore said.

"I believe this is a positive step that will allow us to enter meaningful negotiation with the union to achieve appropriate outcomes based on enterprise bargaining.

"I am sure that parents, teachers and students will join with me in welcoming this move which should bring harmony back to our schools."
