Housing and Aboriginal Affairs Minister and Albany MLA Kevin Prince today handed over the keys to two purpose built units for Aboriginal people in Albany.

Mr Prince made the presentation to the Southern Aboriginal Corporation who will manage the Angove Road units for Aboriginal couples without children.

The project was a joint venture with Homeswest.

The Southern Aboriginal Corporation invested cash and land worth a total of $109,000 in the project and Homeswest contributed $89,000 to construction of both units.

Both two-bedroom units were designed by Homeswest and constructed by Albany builder Rural Homes.

"This project is proof of how the Coalition Government and the community can work together to help people in the Albany community," Mr Prince said.

"Joint venture schemes like this offer an alternative way of meeting the community's diverse housing needs and provide people with a chance to say how their housing is built and how it will operate.

"I commend the Southern Aboriginal Corporation and Homeswest for their efforts in this project and hope they again form a partnership to provide more housing for people in the Albany community."
