A popular handbook for landlords who self-manage their residential properties has been reprinted to meet strong demand.
Fair Trading Minister Doug Shave said the success of the Landlord's Hand Book had led to the decision to reprint.
"Landlords who manage their own properties make up about 40 per cent of the 80,000 Western Australians with investments in residential rental property, Mr Shave said.
"It's important they know their rights - and obligations. Well informed landlords and tenants mean less rental disputes."
The handbook complements a range of information material produced by the Ministry of Fair Trading for renters of residential property. It was first printed in 1996 to give landlords a comprehensive and easy-to-use information resource. A survey found the guide had been successful in this and all 10,000 copies had been sold.
"This new edition is the result of a thorough review of the handbook which took into account changes to the Residential Tenancies Act," Mr Shave said.
"It incorporates suggestions from the rental sector, including landlords who have used the guide."
The handbook costs $9.95 and is available from Ministry of Fair Trading offices, Australia Post, newsagents and the State Law Publisher. It can also be ordered by telephone, using credit cards for payment, from Fair Trading on 08 9222 0666.
