The latest in a series of surfcams, showing surf conditions at metropolitan beaches, is up and running.
The Swanbourne surfcam follows earlier cameras already in place overlooking the Cables artificial surf reef and Cottesloe Beach.
These cameras, and planned cameras for Scarborough and Trigg beaches, are features of a new surfcam site linked to the Ministry of Sport and Recreation's website.
Surfers can get an up-to-date look at local, interstate and overseas surf on http://www.surfcam.msr.wa.gov.au
The new site, for example, also offers picture links to the world's best surfing spots, including the Pipeline and Waimea Bay.
Locally, it also provides graphs of swell size off the metropolitan coast and the current weather forecast.
Sport and Recreation Minister Norman Moore said the surfcams locally were already extremely well-used.
On Wednesday of this week, for example, there had been 1333 hits.
"Another great feature of this site is a link to the Cottesloe Beach camera which allows the user to manipulate the camera through 360 degrees and look up and down the beach," the Minister said.
