Launch of Best of the West tourism brochure at Broome
23/2/96
Tourism Minister Norman Moore has used Broome for a special release of the Western Australian Tourism Commission's prestigious Best of the West brochure. Speaking at the launch at Broome's Mecure Hotel, Mr Moore said the Kimberley region featured prominently in the brochure.
"It is the biggest presence the Kimberley region has ever had in this brochure, reflecting its growth as one of the State's premier tourist destinations," he said.
"New flights with Qantas Airlink, Skywest and National Jet are all assisting in opening this area up as a key WA destination, both nationally and internationally, and allowing for greater tourism development.
"The local community, business and Government have also supported the growth in an effort to provide an event to further boost the tourism industry."
Almost 100,000 copies of the 116-page brochure are being circulated nationally to more than 3,000 travel agents, to assist agents in booking WA holidays for their clients.
The brochure has specific information on each region, including tour and accommodation options and a selection of self-drive itineraries.
