Little Grove Primary School to feature a covered walkway

Albany's newest primary school at Little Grove will now also feature a covered walkway to shelter students from poor weather conditions.
Education Minister Colin Barnett announced the addition to the school today which is currently under construction and due to open for the start of the first term of school next year.
Mr Barnett visited Albany in May and met with local representatives to discuss the issue. The result will be a covered walkway between the school's covered assembly area, which incorporates the canteen, and the library resource centre. The walkway will cost $27,000 to build.
Mr Barnett said he was pleased to be able to provide the new school with the covered walkway in recognition of the town's weather conditions.
"The change to include a covered walkway will cost a significant amount of money, but in light of the strong community support for the addition, I am delighted to give it my approval," Mr Barnett said.
"I'm sure the community will be pleased with the finished product."
The $3.5 million Little Grove Primary School is expected to open next year with 185 students ranging from pre-primary to year seven. The school will include nine classrooms, two pre-primary classrooms, an art/craft room, music room, administration and staff buildings, as well as sporting facilities for cricket, netball, basketball and tennis.
