Tourism Minister Norman Moore today launched a luxury boat which will offer five-star cruising for tourists wanting to see the spectacular Kimberley coastline.
Mr Moore said that the boat, True North, was a further fine example of the skill and talent of Western Australia's shipbuilding industry based in Henderson.
It also was further evidence of the exciting opportunities for tourism in WA.
"True North is a 34-metre, state-of-the-art discovery craft, specially designed for exploring the Kimberley," Mr Moore said.
"She can accommodate up to 30 people in luxury and has a helipad on the top deck so guests can be flown directly to some of the most beautiful country in the world."
He said that facilities included two staterooms, six double cabins and one twin cabin, all with ensuites, and six twin cabins with share bathrooms. There was separate accommodation upstairs for eight crew.
Mr Moore complimented Broome-based North Star Charters for their initiative in opening up one of the world's best wilderness areas.
"North Star Charters is the longest serving charter cruise operator covering the Kimberley coastline," he said.
"I am sure the True North will further enhance our State's excellent reputation as a place to enjoy holidays of an entirely different nature."
