The RAAF Association's new retirement village at Estate Meadow Springs in Mandurah is the type of facility that is needed to provide seniors with a quality lifestyle, according to Seniors Minister June van de Klashorst. "This project, which will eventually have 250 units, provides various stages of care as well as a central recreation facility consisting of a licensed club, three bowling greens, croquet green and swimming pool," the Minister said. "A workshop, hydrotherapy pool and chapel is still under construction. "Modern technology, today's knowledge about a healthy lifestyle and earlier retirement mean many more retirees will be leading an active life in their latter years, so the demand for this quality of retirement living will only increase." Mrs van de Klashorst said the association's latest retirement village, which will cost $30 million when completed, has tapped into what will be a rapidly growing market over the next 20 years. "The number of seniors in the State is estimated to increase from 260,000 to 548,000 in 21 years time," she said. "With other retirement facilities at Bull Creek, Merriwa and a fourth estate being established at Cambrai, the association is helping provide for the retirement needs of today's and tomorrow's seniors."
