Residents of the Narembeen community will benefit from a new health and fitness centre which is the first of its kind in Western Australia.
Health Minister John Day who officially opened the centre said its primary objective was to improve the health and well-being of the people of Narembeen.
"Individuals will be able to have their general fitness assessed by health professionals and a program will be designed to improve their health and fitness," Mr Day said.
"This centre will be of great benefit to the community for people of all ages.
"It will house a fully equipped gymnasium and provide services such as physiotherapy, occupational therapy, a dietician, home and community care respite and many other valuable services."
The centre has been funded by the Narembeen Health Services Board through the Multi-Purpose Services (MPS) program.
Mr Day said MPS had allowed for a range of services to become available to smaller communities that had previously only been accessible by large regional centres or capital cities.
"The State Government is committed to providing rural areas of Western Australia with more services than ever before," he said.
"We are focused on providing care which is closer to home."
