New facilities in Narrogin show Govt's support for rural communities

New facilities and refurbished offices for Agriculture Western Australia in Narrogin demonstrated the Coalition Government's commitment to support rural communities and provide resources close to customers, Primary Industry Minister Monty House said today.
Mr House said the completion of the new facilities in Narrogin at a cost of $2 million would ensure agriculture in the region was well serviced into the next century.
"The decision to upgrade in Narrogin has meant the injection of considerable funds into the regional economy, both directly and indirectly through the capital works program," he said.
"$23.75 million is also allocated to Agriculture WA for additional capital works over the next three years.
"I am committed to providing and directing resources to those areas which offer the biggest benefits to WA agriculture, food and fibre industries and the community."
The new building can accommodate up to 36 staff, which will enable Agriculture WA to expand services in the region when required.
A two-storey office building, laboratories, a post-mortem room, livestock pens, conference and workshop facilities and improved staff facilities are part of the new regional office.
"The facilities will provide a greater capacity to carry out research, surveillance and investigatory roles within the livestock industries," Mr House said.
"It will provide an excellent working environment for employees which will assist Agriculture WA in attracting and maintaining highly skilled personnel in the country."
Mr House said one of the State's leading painters, George Haynes, had produced original artworks depicting agriculture in the region as a backdrop to the main reception area.
