Nominations for the 1998 Seniors' Awards are now being invited from all members of the community.

The Seniors' Awards recognise and honour Western Australian people and organisations that have made invaluable contributions to the community. The award categories include community service, business, arts, sport and recreation.

Seniors' Minister Rhonda Parker has encouraged people of all ages to nominate someone whose efforts deserve to be publicly acknowledged.

"The awards provide an opportunity for the community to recognise the contributions our seniors make to the community as well as the efforts of organisations, businesses and individuals to improving the quality of life to older Western Australians," Mrs Parker said.

"I am continually inspired by the number of seniors I meet who are living proof that these years can be the most enjoyable and rewarding of our lives."

The Seniors' Awards are sponsored by the Office of Seniors' Interests, GWN Television and The Lord Forrest Hotel. Sponsors of individual awards include St John of God Health Care System, GIO Australia and Woolworth.

Nominations close on Friday, August 21, 1998. The award winners will be announced at a presentation ceremony at The Lord Forrest Hotel in Bunbury on November 4, 1998.
