In its first week of operation there has been an overwhelmingly positive response to the State Government's OnlineWA initiative.
Premier Richard Court said today that the number of Internet users accessing OnlineWA had exceeded expectations.
Since the launch of the OnlineWA Single Doorway last Wednesday the site had recorded 2.1 million hits, with more than
38,000 people visiting the site.
OnlineWA is one of the most comprehensive Internet sites in Australia, offering a single doorway to 2,000 Government and non-Government online services and information sources.

Mr Court said the majority of people accessing OnlineWA were from metropolitan and regional Western Australia.
"It's estimated that more than five per cent of the total number of Internet users in Western Australia have accessed OnlineWA in its first week of operation," the Premier said.
"The result is well above expectations and a very pleasing endorsement of the Government's commitment to this form of service delivery."

He said the analysis of the first week data also showed that Internet users from interstate and overseas had also visited the site.
"Of the overseas visits there has been interest from New Zealand, the United States, the United Kingdom and as far away as Russia," the Premier said.

Mr Court said even more pleasing than the number of visits to OnlineWA was the positive feedback about the site from Internet users.
"Around 95 per cent of the e-mail received to date has been complimentary about the design of the site and the wide range of services offered," the Premier said.
OnlineWA is a major part of the State Government's online services initiative which, within five years, will give all Western Australians the opportunity to participate in and benefit from the technology revolution, regardless of their financial circumstances or where they live in the State.
Through the web site people have access to a range of Government and non-Government services including bill paying facilities, information on business and investment and community activities, available 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
