Family and Children's Services Minister Cheryl Edwardes has agreed to the Onslow Youth Centre retaining funding of $1,628 unspent from a previous training grant.

Mrs Edwardes said the centre provided services for disadvantaged young people in Onslow between the ages of 12 and 18 years.

"The service aims to promote positive relationships between young people, their families and the community," Mrs Edwardes said.

"The service offers activities for young people mainly from the Bindi Bindi Community.

"This service is also involved with the Onslow Abuse Prevention program which aims to reduce child abuse in the community through positive family relationships."

Mrs Edwardes said she believed the approval for retaining unspent funds marked the continuation of a good relationship which benefited young people in the community.
