Opening a new dental health centre in Albany would ensure local people had the very best of dental service, Health Minister Kevin Prince said today.

Mr Prince said that public dental facilities in Albany had come a long way since the original dental clinic was built in Grey Street opposite the Town Hall in 1958.

The Albany dental clinic had been commissioned at a cost of $510,000 and the local community via the hospital board was to be congratulated for providing the land.

"It is a testament to what can be achieved when agencies work together for the common good - something that country people understand very well," Mr Prince said.

"The new Albany clinic is a modern facility, incorporating ergonomically designed surgeries which will enable patients to receive a more efficient service in comfortable surroundings.

"Additional surgery space will enable the clinic to provide a high level of dental care for the Albany community well into the 21st century."
