Transport Minister Eric Charlton has strengthened community input to decision-making on the Eastern Goldfields Transport Board with a new appointment announced today.

Paul Robson, a local pharmacist and Kalgoorlie/Boulder City Councillor, has been appointed to the board for two years.

He joins fellow councillor Oreste Robustellini, a taxi owner who has been re-appointed to the board for another year.

"I am delighted that Mr Robson has accepted the appointment to the EGTB," Mr Charlton said.

"He is a community-minded person who is a serving member of the board's advisory council, and his contribution will be valuable.

"It is very important that there be local knowledge on the board, which is the decision-making body for the Goldenlines public transport operation that services the Goldfields."

A further new board appointment announced by the Minister today was that of Mr Jim Fitzgerald, the Engineering Director of Transperth.

He replaces Mr Dick MacDonald, who retired from Transperth earlier this year.

Mr Charlton also announced the re-appointment of Mr Gary Jones, Director of Service Development and Co-ordination at the Department of Transport.

The term of board chairman Mr Ian McCullough expires at the end of this year.
