Peel Aboriginal Visitors Scheme officer named a CS award finalist

Project Officer for the Aboriginal Visitors Scheme in the Peel region Trish Hill-Keddie has been selected as a finalist in the prestigious 1996 Community Services Industry Awards.
Family and Children's Services Minister Cheryl Edwardes congratulated Ms Hill-Keddie who was chosen as a finalist from among nearly 700 nominations across 10 categories.
The award winners will be announced on November 27, at the Radisson Observation City Hotel.
Mrs Edwardes said the awards recognised innovation, excellence and co-operation in the community services sector in Western Australia.
"The awards are a way to say thank you for the valuable contribution of so many organisations and individuals who work tirelessly to make a difference in our community," she said.
"They ask no more than that the service they provide helps families, young people and children in our community."
Ms Hill-Keddie has contributed in many different areas of community services in the Peel region and has been chosen in the category of Individual Leader. She is a member of the Winjan Aboriginal Corporation and provides advocacy, crisis prevention and counselling services to Aboriginal juveniles and adults in prison.
Ms Hill-Keddie has been employed as a counsellor with the Peel Sexual Assault Referral Centre and on a voluntary basis also provides drug and alcohol dependency counselling to Aboriginal youths, adults and their families.
