Women in the Fremantle, Armadale, Joondalup and Midland districts will be able to put their views on how to increase opportunities and improve their quality of life at a State Government consultation next week which will help frame a five-year plan for women. Women's Interests Minister June van de Klashorst said any issue could be raised at the consultation and could include personal safety, health issues, equal pay and opportunity to transport, childcare or balancing the family and work. "The information from consultations to be held around the State will be used to draw up a plan to improve the way State Government departments respond to the needs of women," Mrs van de Klashorst said. "The Government recognises that the role of women continues to change and wants to make sure services meet these needs in the future. "This consultation will focus on practical issues and will be used to draw the attention of State Government departments and agencies to the needs of women." Mrs van de Klashorst said it was important to seek the views of women from a number of suburbs as they could have different needs. Child care would be available at all consultations. The consultation will be held as follows: Fremantle: 9am - noon Monday, November 6, Reception Room, City of Fremantle Building, 8 Williams St, Fremantle; Armadale: 9am - noon Tuesday, November 7, Reception Room, City of Armadale, 7 Orchard Ave, Armadale; Joondalup: 9am - noon Thursday, November 9, Edith Cowan University Sports and Recreation Centre, Joondalup Drive, Joondalup; Midland: 9am - noon Friday, November 10, Jades Restaurant and Function Centre, 9 The Avenue, Midland. Those who cannot attend the consultations will be able to make their views known by taking part in a phone-in or filling out a questionnaire on the Women's Policy Office website at http://www.wa.gov.au/wpdo Questionnaires will also be available from Regional Development Commission offices around the State.
