Peter Nisbet QC appointed Judge of the District Court of WA

Attorney General Peter Foss has announced the appointment of Mr Peter Nisbet QC as a Judge of the District Court of Western Australia.

The Minister said Cabinet had approved the appointment of Mr Nisbet to replace His Honour Judge Clarke who retired from the District Court on March 31, 1998.

Mr Nisbet was born and educated in Western Australia graduating from UWA in 1966.

He was admitted to practice in 1969 and during the past 30 years had practised extensively in the areas of family law, industrial law, commercial litigation and criminal law.

In 1988 Mr Nisbet joined the Independent Bar undertaking significant counsel work in a wide variety of jurisdictions including the High Court, Federal Court and District Courts.

Mr Nisbet was appointed Queen's Counsel in 1993.
