Ray Bennett appointed general manager oF TAB
30/8/95
Mr Ray Bennett, the current chairman of the Western Australian Greyhound Racing Association, has been appointed general manager of the TAB.
Racing and Gaming Minister Max Evans announced the appointment today and said that Mr Bennett would take up the position on Friday, September 1.
This would enable him to attend the annual conference of Australian TAB managers in Queensland next week with the current acting general manager of the TAB, Mr John Field.
Mr Bennett's resignation from the positions of chairman of WAGRA and a director of the TAB representing greyhound racing would take effect simultaneously with his new appointment.
Mr Bennett (52) came to Western Australia in 1985 and was closely involved in the development of Challenge Bank, in which he was general manager of retail banking until he retired from the bank in 1990.
He currently owns a newsagency and Lotto business.
Mr Evans said that as well as being fully aware of the TAB's current operations, Mr Bennett would bring a wealth of commercial and marketing experience to his new position.
