Re-opening of the Bunnings works by Cutts Transport would be a boost for Manjimup

The re-opening of the Bunnings engineering works by Cutts Transport Pty Ltd with State Government assistance would be a tremendous boost for the town and district, Local Government Minister and Warren-Blackwood MLA Paul Omodei said today.
"The investment by the Cutts family is a great expression of confidence in Manjimup's future and I am delighted that the State Government has been able to give practical assistance," Mr Omodei said.
Deputy Premier and Commerce and Trade Minister Hendy Cowan announced in Parliament today that the Government would provide an interest-free loan of $400,000 as part of the $1.34 million package.
The business would re-open with 22 employees, but if it built up to 30 by the end of the fourth year and maintained at least that level, the loan would convert to a grant at the end of the fifth year.
The money was provided through the South-West Industry Restructuring (RFA) Program.
"This is a very practical way to provide assistance to regional industry," Mr Omodei said.
"It provides direct assistance to the business, but the level of the assistance is linked to the success of the business in meeting social targets.
"Having the engineering and hydraulics works in Manjimup again will retain skilled personnel, provide important technical support for other local industries, and make Manjimup a more attractive place for new investment.
"The works will be an important backup for the timber, transport, agriculture, horticulture and viticulture industries.
"Cutts Transport is a family business with 20 years involvement in the timber transport industry in this region.
"This new venture is a bold step, but I am certain the company has the experience and the ability to make it a success," Mr Omodei said.
