Swan Districts-Perth Westar clash in Moora cancelled due to more floods
28/5/99
Sport and Recreation Minister Norman Moore said the latest flooding on top of the earlier floods was incredibly bad luck for the people of Moora.
Mr Moore was also bitterly disappointed that the Swan Districts-Perth Westar clash planned for Moora tomorrow (29/5/99) had had to be transferred to Bassendean Oval.
"I know how excited and enthusiastic local people were and how much they were looking forward to the game," he said.
The Minister said he had originally suggested that the game be played in Moora with the assistance of the State Government's Country Sport Enrichment Scheme.
Proceeds from the match were to go to Moora's relief fund.
Mr Moore said he had already held preliminary talks with Westar Rules today and he was hopeful that a four-point game would go ahead in Moora later in the season.
