Sympathy extended to family of miner killed at Kambalda gold mine
20/3/98
Mines Minister Norman Moore today expressed his sympathy to the family of miner Andrew Christie.
Mr Christie, a shot-firer's assistant, was killed at the WMC Resources Ltd Junction gold mine in Kambalda on Thursday.
Mr Moore said he was very concerned and frustrated that fatalities were still occurring despite urgent action being taken to implement recommendations from the Report on the Inquiry into Fatalities in the Western Australian Mining Industry.
He said an urgent meeting had been arranged with executives from WMC Resources Ltd and Eltin Ltd for early next week to discuss this latest fatality and the progress of the company's proposal to eliminate fatalities in its operations.
