Taking Tea exhibition opened at the Old Bakery on 8th Gallery

Arts Minister Peter Foss opened the exhibition Taking Tea at the Old Bakery on 8th Gallery today.
The exhibition features teapots, jugs, bowls, cups and tea caddies by ceramic artists from across Australia.
"This is the Third Annual Teapot Exhibition at the Old Bakery on 8th Gallery and again provides a wonderful opportunity for the community to see a lively show and an impressive body of work," Mr Foss said.
"With Australians expected to drink an extra 34 million cups of tea this year, up 3.4% compared with last year, the exhibition is timely."
The Minister praised the creative talents of the ceramic artists who produced such a vigorous and distinctive range of work.
"Many of the works on display contain elements of surprise and will challenge the viewer's perception of contemporary ceramics."
The Minister congratulated all participants at the Old Bakery on 8th Gallery for presenting the exhibition, which concludes on July 25, 1999.
The exhibition coincides with the 9th National Ceramics Conference, which starts tomorrow.
