Technical advisor to assist in SW pulp mill project
5/4/93
A technical advisor has been appointed to assist in the South-West pulp and paper mill project.
Resources Development Minister Colin Barnett said Melbourne-based Jaakko Poyry Pty Limited had been awarded the position to help the Department of Resources Development assess the three recent pulp mill submissions.
"A pulp mill is a new concept in Western Australia and therefore needed outside expertise with the technical background to analyse such a project," Mr Barnett said.
"Jaakko Poyry Pty Limited is a leading international consultant and project manager to the pulp and paper industry."
The Government has received submissions from Bunnings Limited, NLK Consultants Inc (Canada) in association with Australia's Davy John Brown Pty Limited, and German/Canadian company Klockner Industries Anlagen GMBH.
A preferred proponent is expected to be decided by the end of the financial year.
