Trialling of 'TENGRAPH' computerised system
18/6/94
The most significant land management facility introduced by the Department of Minerals and Energy this century, the $10 million TENGRAPH system, is to be tested 'live' at Kalgoorlie before its official launch.
Mines Minister George Cash said the powerful computerised system would be on line at Kalgoorlie on August 9.
"TENGRAPH records and displays the position of mining tenements in relation to other land information," Mr Cash said.
"For the first time in the history of the department, customers will be able to produce their own tailor made maps in A4 to A1 size and in colour or black and white.
"Identifying which areas of Western Australia are available for exploration or mining will be at the press of a button.
"Under the accelerated program announced in the State Budget, implementation of the system outside of the South West will be completed within the next two financial years instead of over five years as originally planned."
The department is offering free training seminars on TENGRAPH at Kalgoorlie and Perth between July 18 and August 5.
Further details about the seminars are available from Ross Collins in Kalgoorlie on (090) 21 3066 or Erica Theedom in Perth on (09) 222 3423.
