Finance Minister Max Evans today announced that the Governor had appointed Mr Vic Evans as managing director of the State Government Insurance Commission.
Mr Evans said the SGIC board unanimously recommended the appointment after considering a strong field of candidates Australia-wide.
"Vic Evans has been acting managing director of the SGIC since November last year, and with his proven leadership and management experience he is ideally equipped to lead the SGIC into the future," he said.
Vic Evans, 51, has worked in public sector insurance since 1960, when he joined the Motor Vehicle Insurance Trust as a clerk.
In 1976 he was appointed claims superintendent, and since then has held a number of senior positions, including that of inaugural corporate secretary of the SGIC, director of the Motor Vehicle Personal Injury Secretariat and group manager, Commission Insurances.
The appointment is for a three-year term, which commenced on June 22, 1993.
