Singapore will be enjoying 'the best from Western Australia' later this month.
Food, wine, jewellery, fashion and tourism will all be promoted at the event, which has attracted considerable interest from Western Australian industry.
"Our State's reputation as a source of 'clean, green' produce is growing," Commerce and Trade Minister Hendy Cowan said today.
"The best from Western Australia' will feature at least 14 food producers; eight wineries, jewellers, pearl producers, an Aboriginal art exhibition and a prominent Perth fashion designer.
"Other events happening through the week, from January 15-20, will include tourism seminars, an investment function and a theatrical performance by Jill Perryman staged by Perth's own Effie Crump Theatre."
'The best from Western Australia' has been organised by the Department of Commerce and Trade and the department's local international trade office, in association with the Western Australian Tourism Commission. It will be centred on the Hyatt Regency Singapore Hotel.
The chef de cuisine of the Hyatt Regency Perth will be co-ordinating the preparation of Western Australian menus at the hotel.
Western Australian food on offer will include marinated seafood, fresh oysters, yabbies, marron, crab, emu, smallgoods, icecream, Margaret River yoghurts and cheeses, preserves, gourmet fruit and vegetables, confectionery and honey.
A showcase of Western Australian jewellery will be staged in the Hyatt Regency Grand Ballroom. It will incorporate a fashion parade, featuring fashion by Ruth Tarvydas.
An investment seminar and lunch incorporating Western Australian foods and wines will also be held.
