Bodallin Primary School's students will relocate to larger primary schools in the area next year, after a decision to close the school.
Education Minister Alan Carpenter announced today he had endorsed a recommendation by the school community that the school - about 50km west of Southern Cross and 320km east of Perth - should close at the end of the 2002 school year.
"Parents have recommended to the Department of Education that the Bodallin School close as soon as possible to enable children to start at their new school in 2003," Mr Carpenter said.
"The school community believes students would be better off in larger schools where they will have greater access to specialist staff, programs and facilities.

"The community accepts that a continual decline in enrolments would limit educational opportunities for their children."
The Minister said Bodallin currently had eight students of primary school age. All of them had the opportunity to relocate to nearby Moorine Rock Primary School.
"Primary school students relocating to Moorine Rock Primary School will continue to have access to a bus service and are eligible to receive transport assistance to help them relocate," Mr Carpenter said.
"In addition, a relocation allowance of $250 per student currently enrolled in years pre-primary to six, will be available to assist parents with educational expenses related to the relocation of their children to another Government primary school.
"Moorine Rock Primary School, with 31 students, has the capacity to accept all primary students from Bodallin with minimal impact."
Mr Carpenter said the recurrent savings of more than $324,000 from the closure of Bodallin Primary would be made available to further improve the educational program at Moorine Rock Primary School.
