The State Government has contributed $22,500 towards an upgrade of the Broome Skate Park.
Kimberley Minister Ljiljanna Ravlich congratulated the shire on its efforts to improve facilities for young people in the town.
Ms Ravlich said the grant would help the shire provide new seating, rubbish bins and shade sails and other improvements.
"Better community facilities help make better communities and young people are a vital part of any community," she said.

"The Gallop Government has made a big investment in stronger communities through programs such as its four-year, $2million Community Facilities Grants Program."
Kimberley MLA Carol Martin said that Broome Skate Park was very popular with young people and the upgrade will make it an even better place to spend time.
"The skate park is a much needed public place that the kids can call their own, " Ms Martin said.
"It is somewhere they meet, enjoy themselves and develop their physical skills as well."
The $45,000 skate park upgrade was due to be completed by mid 2005.
The grant was provided through the Community Facilities Grants Program administered from the Department of Local Government and Regional Development.
