25/6/01
Bunbury man Ryan Bilsby was named Young Business Achiever of the Year at the Telstra Small Business Awards last week.
Presenting the award, Small Business Minister Clive Brown said Mr Bilsby's business, Phoenix I T, had grown from a home-based business to one of the most prolific software engineering companies in the South-West.
"Now operating from an office in downtown Bunbury, Mr Bilsby employs two staff members and has cultivated an impressive line-up of corporate clients including Alphawest and Dyno Industries," Mr Brown said.
"The Young Business Achiever Award had a particularly exacting criteria as the judging panel not only looked at the success of the business, but also the nominee's drive and entrepreneurial spirit."
The other finalists for the Young Business Achiever Award were Louisa Wood of Get Positive Productions in Sorrento and Tyson and Louise O'Brien of Twisted Metal in Rockingham.
Get Positive Productions produces customised school diaries for private and public schools, sporting clubs and associations. Twisted Metal designs and manufactures a range of wrought iron products including balustrading, fencing, furniture and giftware.
Sponsored by the Small Business Development Corporation, entrants for the Young Business Achiever Award were drawn from local business award programs across the State.
