Commerce and Trade's new man in Indonesia

State Development Minister Clive Brown has announced the appointment of Ross Taylor as the Department of Commerce and Trade's new Regional Director for Indonesia.
Mr Taylor will take up his position in Jakarta on June 18.
He was previously director of Asset Shipping and marketing director for Christmas Island Phosphate.
Mr Brown says Mr Taylor's practical experience in understanding the market and successfully doing business in Indonesia would help Western Australian companies make the most of opportunities in this important market.
"Indonesia is Australia's eighth largest export market, especially in the areas of mining services, resources, agribusiness, food and beverage, education and training, tourism and resources.
"The Indonesian bureau will build on the success of the WA Government overseas network, which offers a comprehensive range of business support services at no cost."
Mr Taylor will assist WA businesses wanting to export or invest in the country. He will also help Indonesian businesses interested in doing business in WA.
Other services will include:
- providing direct access to people with on-the-ground knowledge in any particular industry or export market;
- market research for a product, service or industry;
- identification of market and investment opportunities;
- introductions to local contacts or potential joint venture partners;
- organisation of trade missions and company visits;
- advice on political and economic conditions from a WA perspective;
- assistance with export procedures and establishment of business bases; and
- assisting with cross-cultural communications.
