Health Minister Bob Kucera today congratulated Kalamunda Health Service on achieving four-year accreditation from the Australian Council on Healthcare Standards (ACHS).
Mr Kucera said the accreditation served as a sign to the community that the health service remained committed to delivering quality patient care based on local needs.
"Achieving accreditation involves a great deal of effort and application by all staff in all areas," he said.
"It is a seal of approval for the outstanding health care and services provided, and is tangible proof of the quality of care."
Mr Kucera said that in the accreditation process the ACHS surveyors addressed a broad range of criteria, including direct patient care, staff, information management, environment and leadership.
"A final report from the surveyors praised many of the programs, strategies and services provided by the Kalamunda Health Service," he said.
Some of the programs that received commendation included:

  • the pre-admission clinic;
  • the care-awaiting placement program;
  • adherence by the catering services to the Australian Institute of Environmental Health Foodsafe Program; and
  • the Kalamunda web page projects.
Mr Kucera said the extensive changes that had been undertaken by the health service to achieve accrual accounting and enhanced departmental financial reporting were also noted.
