Community views sought on West Vincent Transport Plans
8/10/01
Residents in suburbs from Subiaco and West Perth to Joondanna and Coolbinia are invited to comment on travel infrastructure options in their communities.
Planning and Infrastructure Minister Alannah MacTiernan said leaflets explaining the 'West Vincent Integrated Transport Plan' and inviting comment were being distributed this week.
"The aim of this project is to create a more balanced transport system for the area where bus, train, cycling and walking are viable trip options," Ms MacTiernan said.
"Involving the community in planning helps ensure that we develop transport systems that work for everyone."
Ms MacTiernan said the leaflet was the next stage in a process initiated by the Department of Planning and Infrastructure in May this year.
"Initial community feedback in response to advertisements, letterbox drops and presentations to local precinct groups had been helpful in developing the document," she said.
"Residents have requested improved public transport access and services, safer cycling and walking environments and the provision of transport alternatives to the use of private vehicles for commuters."
This week, Australia Post will deliver 12,000 leaflets to households in Leederville, Menora, Mt Hawthorn, Northbridge, North Perth, Subiaco, West Perth and parts of Perth, Joondanna and Coolbinia.
