The Esperance Shire Council and Esperance Rotary Club today received funding to help maintain the Esperance Rotary Walk Trail.
Government Enterprises Minister Nick Griffiths today presented the $36,000 grant to representatives of the Esperance community at a breakfast meeting hosted by the Esperance Shire Council.
Mr Griffiths said that in the four years since the Trailswest program was set up as a joint initiative between the Department of Sport and Recreation and the Lotteries Commission, over $2 million in Lotteries funding had been given to the development of trails from the Kimberley to the South-West.
"One of the key objectives of the Lotteries Commission is to enhance the quality of life for all West Australians. Recreation trails are certainly all about a quality of life, particularly the Esperance trail with its breathtaking views," Mr Griffiths said.
The Minister also congratulated the Esperance Rotary Club and the Shire of Esperance for their commitment to the project.
"The Esperance Rotary Walk Trail provides enjoyment to thousands of West Australians and international visitors.
"This grant will mean that even more people can experience the trail in many years to come," he said.
