The Department of Housing and Works' Landstart development division and joint venture partner Heath Development Company has commenced work on the final 102 lots in the sought-after Woodrise Estate in Albany.
Housing and Works Minister Tom Stephens said the first lots would be available for release in December and it was expected they would sell quickly as previous stages had done.
The lots average 600 to 650 square metres and will sell for between $50,000 to $60,000.
"Development of the estate started three years ago and, to date, 80 blocks have been constructed," Mr Stephens said.
"Of these, 47 have or are currently being built on, with 58 sold in total.
"The estate provides a good variety of different construction types and styles and is conveniently located less than two kilometres from the Albany central business district.
"Another drawcard has been the fact that this is one of the first subdivisions in Albany to have had major landscaping works completed.
"Some $450,000 would have been spent on landscaping works alone by the project completion, expected to be in February 2003.
"This is an excellent example of the State Government and private enterprise working in harmony for the benefit of all Western Australians looking to own their own home."
Mr Stephens said some of the blocks would be ready to be placed on the market by December this year, with the remaining lots available in early 2003.
The total project cost is in the vicinity of $1.5million with many second and 'other' homebuyers purchasing in the estate.
The estate is located at the intersection of Angove Road and Ulster Road, Albany.
