Western Australia's 25th Governor, Rear Admiral Sir Richard Trowbridge KCVO, passed away in England on Sunday, May 4.
Sir Richard (83) was Governor of Western Australia from 1980 to 1983 and the last British vice regal representative in Australia.
He is survived by his wife, Lady Trowbridge, and two sons.
A private funeral service will be followed by a memorial service in England. The details of the memorial service are to be finalised.
Premier Geoff Gallop extended condolences to Lady Trowbridge and her family on behalf of the people of WA.
Dr Gallop said Sir Richard, supported by Lady Trowbridge, had served with distinction as Governor and earned the respect of Western Australians.
