The Gallop Government's booming economy has seen the trend of record low unemployment continue, Consumer and Employment Protection Minister John Kobelke said.
Mr Kobelke said the latest ABS job figures out today showed the State's unemployment rate had fallen from 5.0 per cent in March to 4.8 per cent in April.
"This trend of record low unemployment is a further vote of confidence in the Gallop Government's responsible economic management," he said.
"We have been at or below the five per cent mark in WA for nine months now and the number of people with jobs continues to grow.
"The rate of 4.8 per cent is the lowest of any of the States and compares well with the national rate of 5.1 per cent."
Mr Kobelke said total employment in WA increased by 2,300 people over the same period, up to 1,032,900 people.
"At the same time, 4,500 more Western Australians engaged in full-time employment," he said.
"This comes on top of an increase in total employment in WA over the past year of 4.3 per cent or 42,500 Western Australians.
"These figures prove the Gallop Government is providing new jobs and opportunities for Western Australians."
