Gallop Government provides tornado relief to South-West businesses
27/05/05
The Gallop Government has provided assistance for 77 small business owners who suffered damage to their operations during the mini-tornado that hit Bunbury two weeks ago.
Visiting Bunbury today, South-West Minister Mark McGowan said the Gallop Government had provided $8,000 to the Leschenault Business Enterprise to secure the services of a business adviser to assist businesses affected by the storm damage.
"The adviser has been working on assessing the situation to give the Government a clearer picture of the impact on local businesses and providing initial relief to assist in getting local businesses back on their feet," Mr McGowan said.
"The Leschenault Business Enterprise Centre has reported that business has expressed its appreciation for this help.
"Through the funding we have been able to provide the services of the business adviser for a further four weeks.
"We are committed to improving services to all Western Australians, no matter where they live."
Mr McGowan said local residents affected by the storms had bounced back quickly and proven to be resourceful and resilient in times of a crisis.
"I have no doubt with time and some assistance, that Bunbury business owners hurt by the storm will be back on their feet and trading," he said.
