Gosnells and Armadale Business Enterprise Centre to officially open
3/10/02
Small Business Minister Clive Brown today officially opened the Armadale Gosnells Business Enterprise Centre.
The centre is part of the network of 37 Business Enterprise Centres (BECs).
The Gosnells Armadale Business Development Organisation has been made possible because of generous sponsorship by the City of Gosnells, City of Armadale, Small Business Development Corporation, Australia Post and the Lotteries Commission.
The Minister believes the sponsorship from the local authorities is particularly important.
"I would like to thank the cities of Gosnells and Armadale for their foresight in deciding to support and sponsor this latest member of the BEC network," Mr Brown said.
Even though the office is located in Gosnells, the service is available throughout both cities.
The organisation is managed by Janene Troy, who has a Bachelor of Business degree and six years experience at operating her own retail business. She has also served as manager at Derby and Northam BECs, offering guidance to new and existing small business operators.
"Some of the programs this BEC is keen to promote includes the availability of training vouchers - valued up to $200 each - through the Small Business Smart Business program and upcoming workshops on marketing and cash flow management," Ms Troy said.
"Established businesses, in particular, are interested in improving the effectiveness of their marketing in order to stand apart from the competition and carve out a strong reputation."
BECs are community-owned and run by a management committee consisting of local representatives from private and public sector organisations and local government.
They receive funding from the State Government through the Small Business Development Corporation.
BECs provide free information to prospective small business operators on a wide range of topics including conducting a feasibility study, licence requirements, business planning, finance, business structures, leasing and insurance.
They also provide a range of services to assist existing small business operators improve or grow their business.
