The State Government will spend $13million on major capital works at Osborne Park Hospital.

The commitment includes $6.6million to build a new mental health inpatient unit and more than $6.5million for the construction of a modern theatre complex.
Mr Kucera said Osborne Park was well-positioned to become a major secondary hospital in the metropolitan public health system.
"To this end, a number of initiatives will be implemented and strengthened at Osborne Park as part of the Government's overall commitment to services in the northern metropolitan area," he said.
"Planning will begin immediately on a purpose-built, adult inpatient mental health unit with a minimum of 25 beds.
"In addition, work will begin soon to replace Osborne Park's existing theatre block with a theatre complex consisting of three theatres and the necessary ancillary components.
"The Rehabilitation and Aged Care Program at the hospital will also be strengthened, in recognition of the growing demand for these services in the north metropolitan area."

Mr Kucera said the recommendation to overhaul services at Osborne Park came from the Osborne Park Hospital Review Committee, which was created earlier this year to provide advice to Government on the future of the hospital.
"The State Government's support of the committee's recommendations should demonstrate to the public its commitment to this hospital and to the health needs of the people who live in the surrounding areas," he said.
The committee was chaired by Innaloo MLA John Quigley. Committee members were Michael O'Halloran (Osborne Park Hospital); Dr Dianne McCavanagh and Stephanie Kirkham (Department of Health); and Frank Schaper (community representative).
