The world's finest documentary filmmakers will gather in Fremantle this week to explore, debate and discuss the world of factual programming.
Delegations from France and China are confirmed to attend as well as leading practitioners, broadcasters and funding agencies from around the country.
Culture and Arts Minister Sheila McHale said the Australian International Documentary Conference represented a major opportunity to network and explore future collaborations - both creatively and financially.
The conference is expected to attract over 300 delegates and will follow the theme 'Journey'.
"Our documentary producers are some of the finest in the world and we are proud to host the documentary conference once again in Fremantle," Ms McHale said.
"Western Australia's documentary community is a flagship industry for WA and is enjoying well-earned success.
"In January, two WA documentaries - 'Shipwreck Detectives' by Prospero Productions and 'Surfing the Menu' by Mago Films - lured over one million viewers each, building on our already strong industry status."
Ms McHale said the Gallop Government was committed to continuing to strengthen the WA screen industry.
Since July 2001, the State Government had invested $9.67million in the industry, generating budgets of $66.71million and creating 122 hours of television programs which showcased WA stories and locations throughout the world.
